Le Garlaban

"A signposted footpath through the Mediterranean forest leads walkers to the Garlaban hill chain next to Aubagne, rising to an altitude of 710 metres. Don't miss the delightful ""Pagnol"" itinerary down from La Treille. This guided walk (in fact a choice of three walks is available according to your ability), reveals Pagnol's film locations and main childhood landmarks.
A major meeting is organised every year on the Sunday following April 18th – the anniversary of Pagnol's death. Aubagne also pays tribute to this memorable Provençal artist with a fascinating yearly fair staged by the town's ""santon"" figurine makers, attracting around 100,000 visitors. Access to the hills is generally prohibited in July and August. Highest points: Le Taoumé (667 metres), home to the famous Grosibou grotto (owl scene in which Marcel Pagnol and Lili are terrified) and Garlaban (715 m).
