"Salon-de-Provence is a small town with a truly magnificent castle dating back to the Middle Ages, built to protect the people of Provence from Saracen invasions. The castle's name originates from its former status as the site where emperors were crowned king of Arles. Empéri is also home to a fascinating museum on the history of the French armies. Exhibiting an impressive 10,000 objects, it is France's second largest military museum after Les Invalides and considered as a reference on the Napoleonic era from Austerlitz to Waterloo. Don't miss the 130 full-scale models on horseback!
The castle also hosts a variety of art exhibitions throughout the year.
